It has been close to three years since we have been able to do this in person, but this Sunday afternoon brought together over 30 old friends at Woodholme Country Club for some lunch, a kibbitz, and a just a chance to hug and kiss in person those with whom we share cherished memories of years spent together at Camp Saginaw.
.
It began with a few drinks…..keep in mind these were old Jews so the bar almost ran out of club soda and limes.. and was followed by a generous fresh fruit plate and choice of entrees from the Woodholme menu. What Jewish event would be a success without a delectable dessert offering, and those brownies and blondies, handmade with love by Francyn Elion Sacks, sure put the proper asterisk on a delicious meal.
After a short intro by our fearless leader Zeus II there were a litany of camp experience stand-up one liners by those in attendance that covered the gamut of feminine hygiene products, perceived indignities, and inflated triumphs….you know the typical Saginaw gab.
A couple of dignitaries were properly noted. Hank got the unofficial All-Around Camper Award for 2022 as you can see in the photo below.
.
Apparently this honor was eagerly anticipated by Hank for about 60 years as he has been working on a musical production which includes the tune….”I Could Have Been An All-Around Camper”.

Joel Levin, in his customary warm and fuzzy manner, bestowed these “Saginaw-Our Fondest Memory” tees on our tireless event organizers Peep Heyman Cohen, Maddie Lavine Zimmerman, and Hank Aberman. There were a couple of extras that were auctioned off to support the Herb Cohen Memorial Fund.
.
But most of the afternoon was spent hanging around and rekindling relationships with people in crooked name tags who need no such introduction.

Special thanks to Peep, Maddie, Hank, and Jack Wilen who help secure convenient venue with plenty of windows to cast us all in the best light.

I made contact with Hank 2years ago during Covid and thought I was on the list to be notified of future reunions. Please put me on the list. I have a lot of group pictures from the 1950`s that I can bring. Thanks Frank Boorstein1005 Catbird LoopSummerville SC843-900-3410
